Diets

I used to think it was nonsense when people said you shouldn't diet but you should just eat healthily and exercise more. The reason for this was because I knew nothing about portion control and so I would eat lots of healthy foods with hidden calories (such as nuts, beans, melons and avocados) and just do some stretching exercises and wonder why I didn't lose weight. I now realise that what should be said is you should not do fad diets but eat small portions of healthy food making sure the diet is balanced and do at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day. I find that even after dieting for years, I still need to weigh some foods and look up the calories as I am not sure what they are. By doing this and counting my daily calories, I can be sure that I am controlling my portions correctly and maintaining a healthy weight.
