Happy Halloween
I just wanted to wish everyone luck this Halloween if you are trying to lose weight or avoid the sweets. We do not celebrate so have none of these things in but I know many people do and it can be a huge temptation. You could always try giving apples and boxes of sultanas to the trick or treaters and you may resist eating those if there are any left!
Weight Update
This morning I had lost a very small amount of weight and am now 9 stone 12.2 pounds. My husband, after his meal last night put on weight and is up to 15 stone 12. He is quite cross and upset about it and has decided not to go to a curry evening next week as he gets annoyed that all his hard work get spoiled because there are no healthy options in the restaurants he has to go to.

Mixed Success
I was pleased this morning with my weight as it is 9 stone 12.4 pounds - back on track. I am not sure why it went up yesterday but it has come back down so I am happy. My husband had a bad day yesterday and put on nearly one pound because he snacked on extra biscuits at work and had haggis for his evening meal followed by a big bowl of cereal. He was cross about it this morning and is eating out tonight on a work function - he also took a lot of pistachio nuts with him to work to snack on so I am concerned about what might happen to his weight today especially a she has been working so hard.

Fill Up on Fruit and Veg
There seems to be some disagreement as to whether it is a good thing to fill up on fruit and vegetables. Some diets say that you should get used to eating less and so do not pile your plate up. Others say that the fruit has too much sugar and is too high in calories. Some say that you shouldn't have too much fruit as it is too high in carbohydrates.
If you want to be healthy then you should have 2-3 portions of fruit and 3-5 portions of veg a day, at least. The reason for this is that it has been found to protect against cancer and they are full of essential nutrients. I find it is a good way to lose weight as they tend to be lower in calories than other foods. If I have lots of vegetables on my plate, I feel like I am getting a large amount of food which makes me feel more satisfied. I find that fruit stops me from wanting sweet things too often.

Weight Gain

More Weight Loss
My weight was down to 9 stone 12.8 (My husband was 15 stone 10.4) this morning which is good. It seems to coming off really easily at the moment which means that I am likely to get to my target quickly if I am sensible. I have just found out that I may be staying with my parents for a week in November so that will be a tricky time. My husband will be away on a course with work and my Mum will be recuperating and thought it would be god for me to stay and help out. Problem is they have no exercise machine and tend to eat big portions and seem to want to feed me up. Perhaps I will take some workout videos with me, I will have to give it some serious thought.

Weight Loss
I didn't keep track of what I ate yesterday because I was out. In the morning I weighed 9 stone 13.8 pounds so I was determined to be sensible. I missed my morning snack knowing it was likely we would have big meals but we didn't and although the only exercise we did was walking we both managed to lose weight. Mine went down to 9 stone 13 and my husband is now 15 stone 10.

Weight Loss
Thankfully my weight came down to 10 stone 0.6 pounds this morning after getting back to it yesterday. I will need to stay on track today as tomorrow I am having a meal at my Mums house and it will be a roast dinner. I will also be having lunch out while shopping and getting something low in calories sandwich wise is almost impossible and there are always so many tempting things to choose from!

A New day - A New Start
So my weight went up to 10 stone 2.4 pounds. I am not surprised. I will be back on track today.
My husband lost weight and is now 15 stone 10.8 pounds which is the lowest he has been for ages, I am so proud of him! He wants to be 14 stone by Christmas which is a loss of about 2.5 pounds a week. It is possible and I will be supporting him. It could be tough for him in December though as he has about six Christmas parties, but he is getting better at being restrained at these sorts of events.
Bad Day
I had a very bad day today. I felt very low, realising how soon it is until my Mum's operation and stressing about some other issues as well. I ate my whole calorie allowance before lunch and continued to eat badly through lunch. I was more restrained later but I am sure I have done a lot of damage. I am not looking forward to what the scales are going to say tomorrow. Sometimes I wish I could do a diet like Fat Loss 4 Idiots where I can lose 11 pounds in a week and then I would already be at my target weight.
I have been thinking about Christmas this evening and so have got my head back on track to making sure that I remember I need to look nice for the beginning of December and fit nicely into my dress for the Christmas party as well as looking good for the big day as it seems there will be quite a few people for lunch. Then there is the family party afterwards which is another opportunity to show off! I know I should be doing it for me and for health reasons not looks, but these little things help to keep me motivated.

My Taste is Changing
I started eating some crisps earlier. I haven't eaten any for a long time and after the first two I stopped enjoying them. I had another and decided that I didn't like them. I used I could live on crisps because I loved them so much and I never seemed to be satiated on them. It is really interesting that not only did I not like them, but I decided to stop eating them and have something I liked instead. Okay, I must admit that it was some buttered toast but at least I didn't waste the calories on something that I didn't enjoy and was unhealthy.

Weight Gain
I thought I ate quite well yesterday and I did loads of exercise and my weight was back up to 10 stone exactly. I assume that it could have been due to putting on some muscle - I really do not understand these things! Anyway I am very pleased with how I look and will keep at it and I am sure I can still be down to 9 stone 11 pounds by the end of the week - although I will be eating out over the weekend so I will have to work very hard at it.

I am so pleased my weight is 9 stone 13.4 pounds this morning. Yay yay yay!!!!!
My next target is 9 stone 7 pounds. I wanted to reach this by Christmas but have now decided that it would be really nice to get there by my husbands works Christmas party. I have not met any of his work colleagues and it will be nice if he can show me off! I have also decided that I want to work out more toning muscles particularly by thighs, arms and abdominals, so if anyone has any tips for that I would appreciate it.
Therefore my next target is 9 stone 7 pounds by 6th December which is 5 weeks time so I need to lose around 1.5 pounds a week. That means by this time next week I need to be 9 stone 11 pounds.

Cravings
I have been craving shortbread biscuits all week. My husband had one the other day and it got me thinking about these diabetic ones they have in Boots and I really wanted to buy some. I even went into the shop the other day and looked at them, but they are 75 calories per biscuit and there are 10 in a packet and knowing me I would eat the whole thing at once. They are the only sugar free ones that I know of and they do not come in smaller packets. I don't know what to do, I would love to have one but I know if I buy the packet I am unlikely to be able to resist eating them all in one go. I even though I would reward myself when I get to below 10 stone by buying them. I know this is silly and I should not be using food as a reward, but I also know that if I do not have them I will start to eat other unhealthy food like the biscuit I had just now.
I think I need to start being able to control myself and resisting temptation but I just don't know if I can risk it. What would you do?

More Weight Loss
My weight was down to 10 stone 1.4 pounds this morning, so nearly back on track after my binge the other day. I still really hope that I can get down below 10 stone before Monday morning weigh in and then I will still be on track for my Christmas target of 9.5 stone.
My husband has been doing a training course this week and has done no exercise and been eating the biscuits and baguettes that they provide for food through the day. His weight is creeping back up. I feel sorry for him as if I was sitting surrounded by that sort of temptation, I would eat it too and he finds it hard fitting in exercise in the evenings as he has had homework and prep to do and he is tired from the intense learning and driving. Hopefully I can get him back on track this weekend with some walks and healthy meals. Wish me luck!

Keeping Track of Calories
If you keep track of your calories on bits of paper then you may be looking for a less wasteful solution. These waterproof memo boards are a great solution. Some Weight Lost
My weight went down to 10 stone 2.8 pounds this morning. I was a bit disappointed as I had it in my head that I would quickly be able to lose everything that I put on but of course losing nearly a pound in a day was pretty good especially considering that I had to stay in with my sons as they were poorly so I only got the chance to have a very quick walk in the evening. They are going to play group today so I will get that nice hill walk first thing in the morning which I love and then again at lunch time.

Huge Weight Gain
I probably ate about 2700 calories yesterday and did not exercise machine. However, despite my weight being up to 10 stone 3.6 pounds, I am happy that my blood sugar is back in balance and I feel like I am getting over the sinus headache that I had yesterday. It was that time of the month as well so all in all was not a good day!
I did not eat lots of unhealthy foods but lots of proteins as well as complex carbohydrates and some fats to get my blood sugar back on line.
I have decided that I would like to get to my target weight of 9.5 stone just before Christmas. It is exactly 10 weeks until Christmas Eve and that means that I need to lose just over one pound a week, on average to get to that weight. I do not feel that is unrealistic and it would be fantastic to have a great body to show off to the relatives that I will be seeing over the festive season!
Plan for today
My weight this morning was down a little bit to 10 stone 1.4 pounds. I have had low blood sugar for the last few days and it is even worse today. I have therefore decided that the sensible thing to do is to stop counting calories today and to try to build my blood sugar back up by having larger portions, more protein and fat but still trying to keep a balance. I am craving biscuits but obviously they are the worst thing I can have so have had a bean burger and salad sandwich instead hoping that will help this morning. I may not exercise either - apart from walking as it made me feel extremely low last night. I will see how I feel later on.

Sucess
Well the hard work yesterday paid off and my weight is back down to 10 stone 1.6 pounds. I have decided to set a target of getting under 10 stone by this time next week. This is such an exciting target for me as I have not been below 10 stone for as long as I can remember, so it must have been when I was at school or college.
My husband thought that he had a bad day yesterday but because he had lower calorie meals (as I cooked most of them!) his naughty snacks did not do as much damage as he thought as despite being over 16 stone again on Sunday morning (due to doing no exercise for 3 days and having too many naughty snacks) was 15 stone 12.6 pounds this morning.

Well yesterday was a bit of a disaster! I just about managed to recover lunch and we got a roast cooked in the end after having a power cut between 11 and 12am. Weight the Same
My weight stayed the same yesterday which I am not surprised about as I ate quite a bit in the evening and didn't do so much exercise. I am 10 stone 1.2 pounds which is still very exciting! I Cannot Believe It!
This morning I remembered that I also had fruit juice yesterday, pushing my calories up even higher. I was therefore not looking forward to weighing this morning. My husband was pleased as despite eating 6 biscuits yesterday and doing no exercise he lost half a pound and is back below 16 stone again. I actually lost a little weight and am now 10 stone 1.2 pounds. I wonder if I miscounted my calories or something. I did eat mainly healthy stuff - even the chocolate truffles were the home made ones from fruit, nuts and cocoa powder so they were almost healthy!

Wow!
Well my weight this morning was down to 10 stone 1.6 pounds. I am so happy - I will soon be below 10 stone which I have never been since I was a child. It is such an exciting milestone for me.
My husband was not so successful and unfortunately his weight was back up to 16 stone and neither of us are sure why. he has taken to having a packet of crisps a day at work and I have suggested that he try going back to having the biscuits he used to have which were the same calories but possibly less fat. Hopefully he will lose some weight tomorrow.

Yay!!
My weight was just 10 stone 2.6 pounds this morning which was fantastic - I am so happy! I have done some new calculations and have decided that as it is best to have a BMI less than 21 for disease prevention then my weight needs to be below 9 stone 9 lbs which is weight loss of just 8.5 pounds. Hopefully I can do that by Christmas.

Ideal BMI
I am sure you are all familiar with the area of BMI and how it predicts the safe weight for our height. I have just finished my nutrition course and there is some interesting information in there about BMI. Basically not all bodies or countries agree on what is a good BMI to be at. Generally the figure in the UK is 18.5-25 but For Heart disease prevention the figure is less than 25. For cancer prevention it is recommended that BMI through the whole of the adult life should be between 18.5 and 25. This all ties up nicely until you look at the European goals. Their population goal for BMI is 21-22 hoping for an optimal level of 20.
At the moment my BMI is 22.4 which is a healthy figure for the UK guidelines but needs to be less for the European ones. I have calculated that to have a BMI of 20 I woudl need to weigh 9 stone 2 pounds which is a further 15lbs weight loss and my husband would need to weigh 10 stone 11 pounds which would mean he would need to lose 71 pounds or about 5 stone. That seems like a lot to me. He has a weight goal of 12.5 stone (BMI 23.1) and mine is 9.5 stone (BMI 20.8). I think we will get to those weights first and then decide whether we think we can live healthily at a lower weight.

Sunday's News
Well I was not anything like as good as I planned. I only did a short 30 minutes on the exercise machine and made some apple crumble and custard and bought some cream. It was lovely but I paid the price and my weight is 10 stone 3.4 pounds this morning. My husband, however, lost weight because he can eat a few more extra calories to me and he was pleased. He reached his weight target for the week this morning!
I think I should start setting weight targets too. I would like my weight to be below 10 stone 2 pounds by Saturday morning. His mew target is 15 stone 10 pounds (he is 15 stone 12 pounds today).
Today's Weight
After eating so much last night I managed to not put on too much weight - I am just 10 stone 3.2 pounds. I was really pleased but just hope that it does not decide to go up today instead. As I am at home with my husband this afternoon I think I will leave him to look after the boys and do some housework as that is what I did on Friday that lost me so much weight. I think I will have a go at cleaning the windows and dusting the ceilings and then do a workout on the machine and then a muscle toning workout and maybe something else too. After just having a slow short walk yesterday I feel like I need to stretch out a bit!

Wow!!
Well I was hugely surprised this morning when I weighed and was 10 stone 2.8 pounds. The housework I did must have really burnt off some calories as that was a loss of 1.4 pounds.
I doubt I will be so happy tomorrow as I was out today and although I was pretty good, I still managed to have a huge lunch and then when I got home I had really low blood sugar and was really hungry and ate loads of food. I am sure that I have eaten 2500 calories today and I just had a short walk and no other exercise.

Weight Loss at Last!
Well all of the exercise was worth it yesterday. Not only do I feel thinner but I lost weight and am now 10 stone 4.2 pounds. I also have some fresh motivation as in a few weeks time I will be visiting people who have not seen me for a while and it would be really good to look and feel amazing! I have also started looking after my skin more by moisturising with a skin tightening cream, putting bio oil on my stretch marks and using a scrubby facial wash and body wash. I have started washing my hair every day and I can really see the difference, even if no one else can! It is great way to treat myself without it being food related.
My husband stayed the same weight despite having a few treats yesterday which is good. I am hoping he will lose some more soon before I start getting used to his trimmer look - it is nice that every time I look at him I see how much thinner he is looking and feel compelled to compliment him.

Weight the Same.....Again!
I am not sure why my weight will not go down. I know the scales have not broken!!
I have decided that I must work harder at it today - do more exercise and try something different with eating. I have decided to eat more food but keep the calories down and then if my body has gone into starvation mode it might come out again. I will try to drink a bit more too and see if that helps.
My husband had a bad day yesterday. Four people brought cakes into the office for birthdays and leaving dos. He was pretty good and had two very small cakes but managed to put on half a pound. Hopefully he can get rid of it today - I will be making sure he gets on the exercise machine tonight!
